Our album" En Passant-By the Way" consists of over 1 hour of music including new arrangements of songs, known, lesser known and original, from the French Canadian and Acadian trad repertoire, as well as various "tounes" , from I Soucy, J.Bouchard, Old Joe Villeneuve, Andy de Jarlis and J. Boudreau.
The songs range from contemporary originals, to 20's-30's music hall and call and answer, to much earlier songs, some of medieval origin, that made their way to Acadie.
Performed by Vazzy Suzanne Leclerc -vocals, podorythmie, harmonica, jawsharp, bodhran, spoons, tambourine and dumbek (+gong!)
Bryn Wilkin -tenor banjo, fiddle, and multioud (+northumbrian pipe drones!)
The maritime photos on the disc cover are taken on last years trip to Acadie ,on Miscou island the furthest eastern point of New Brunswick, on the gulf of St Laurent.
The historic Miscou lighthouse has already been moved inland twice due to rising sea levels, and this large area of coastal natural peat bog, forest, farmland, and commercial peat extraction is sadly predicted to vanish under water this century due to global warming. May the music live on!
